When you call us, we ask for a brief description of your legal problem and details of all parties involved. We do not provide legal advice when you make the first contact, but we will obtain information to decide whether we can book you a conversation with a lawyer or whether we need to refer you to a more appropriate service. If necessary, interpreters can be used. Please note that this is an unmanned telephone line. We will ask a lawyer to respond to your voicemails and texts as soon as possible to answer your question about an eviction notice. This is free legal aid. We improve the lives of the most disadvantaged and marginalized members of the community in the West. Our goal is to solve their legal problems by providing them with client-focused, holistic, collaborative, high-quality and specialized legal advice and support. The Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre (BMCLC) provides free legal advice to people who live, work or study in the communities of Brimbank, Melton and Bacchus Marsh. BMCLC has a main office in St. Albans, open Monday through Friday, and outreach clinics in Sunshine and Melton.

We operate a number of general and specialty legal clinics, as well as outreach services through key community organizations. We also handle cases and provide legal representation. BMCLC is funded by state and Commonwealth governments and supported by philanthropic funding. Please note that initial legal advice consists of legal advice, with ongoing support and case processing to be determined on a case-by-case basis. If you live outside of our catchment area, you can contact the Federation of Community Legal Centres on (03) 9652 1500 to find your local Community Law Centre. We know that lawsuits can sometimes be overwhelming. We strive to provide you with help in a language you can understand. If you feel you don`t understand your options, just ask, and we`ll work to find an explanation that works for you. If you have a different legal issue than above, we may refer you to another service that may be able to help you, or you can call Victorian Legal Aid`s legal helpline on 1300 792 387. Dallas Evictions offers free legal aid to people who may not qualify for traditional legal aid. But the families we help need more than legal representation. They need help paying utility bills, food and partial rent.

BMCLC sees the financial impact that the prolonged lockdown is having on our customers, particularly in our rental practice. Many of our clients struggle with rent, and we are seeing an increasing number of clients at risk of eviction due to unpaid rent. Previously, there was additional financial support from the government and a ban on evictions, but tenants no longer have an effective safety net to avoid the risk of homelessness. As mentioned in the article, Brimbank is one of Melbourne`s neighbourhoods with the highest rental stress rates.
